Primary teachers under strict surveillance on social media

Government primary school teachers have been brought under strict surveillance through social media centering on the status of closure of all types of educational institutions in the country since the first Ramadan. Two teachers have already been punished for spreading propaganda, spreading rumors and neglecting their duties. Some have been given notice to show cause.

Under the supervision of the Department of Primary Education, a 27-member head office-district-upazila and divisional level 4 committees have also been formed. The committee will monitor the activities of government officials/employees and teachers of government primary schools under the Department of Primary Education following the guidelines for use of social media in government institutions-2019 published by the Cabinet Division.

In addition, another committee has been formed called 'Social Media Information Collection, Preservation and Presentation'. It is learned that 4 committees formed in this connection will send reports and recommendations to this committee. An office order has also been issued to the concerned regarding the formation of the committee signed by the Director (Administration) of the Department of Primary Education Hamidul Haque on Sunday night.

In this regard, Director General of the Department of Primary Education Alamgir Muhammad Mansurul Alam told the media, “Committees have been formed at the district and upazila level after issuing warnings on the use of social media. Action has been directed against any rumor, opposition to government decision and non-compliance with government directives.”
